Helping others, one person at a time….
BREAST PROSTHESIS PROGRAM:
We offer external breast prostheses, wigs, etc., free of charge, to women who have experienced breast cancer.
The program consists of a coalition of women in the United States who collect donated prostheses for distribution to Panamanian women.
The program has the support of other non-government organizations (NGO’S) such as FundaCancer Panama, Oncologicol Hospital in Panama City, and the doctors and nurses who have personal relationships with breast cancer victims in public or private hospitals. We also work with the motorcycle club Aquilas de Acera (wheelchair repair and delivery), Lady Lions Club of David (eyeglasses distribution) and the Rotary Club of David (prosthetic hand project).Cooperating agencies include the American Cancer Society of Western Pennsylvania and the Breast Cancer Center of Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
MEDICAL EQUIPMENT DONATIONS
The foundation works to improve the quality of life of people with limited economic resources by providing medical equipment free of charge to public hospitals, public health clinics, children’s homes, nursing homes, and private individuals. Medical equipment donated includes hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, and potty chairs.
All the hospitals in the Province of Chiriqui, the majority of the central health clinics, senior citizen extended care facilities, and disabled children’s groups have also benefited from our donations of medical equipment.
At the local level, medical supplies and household goods have been personally delivered to families in need, significantly changing their quality of life.
This taxi driver used to have to shift gears with his left hand. The donated arm prosthesis was a perfect fit; he now can use his right “hand” to shift.
CLOTHING DONATION PROGRAM.
This program supports the poorest sectors in Panamanian society through the donation of new or gently used clothing and shoes.
SUPPORT OF THE ROBINSON FOUNDATION OF DAVID, PANAMA, (OPERATION GO).
We provide materials and financing for the manufacture of hand-operated tricycles for the handicapped.
